I’ve been pretty busy lately. The hard-drive that I have Ubuntu installed on decided to develop a tick and freeze up when accessing large files. So I backed up what I could and moved it to another hard-drive. I lost a few files, but nothing major.
Sunday has been the day Alexis and I go out and work in the yard. We moved and partially buried the flowerbed partition in the backyard a couple of weekends ago. Last Sunday we went back to clean it up and put some more soil down. During our chore we got a big surprise when Alexis went over to investigate one of a couple of bald spots in the yard. She went to clear away some dead grass with her foot when she heard a squeak, which she thought was probably a dog toy. No, instead she found a litter of baby bunnies. They have hair, but were clearly still blind. One of them wasn’t happy about almost being stepped on and started to crawl away. I used my gardening glove and gently directed it back to the others. We’ve decided to leave them be and let them grow up, but after they move on we are going to be borrowing Tyler’s dog Max to come over periodically to “water” the yard. Hopefully that will keep the bunnies at bay.
We’ve been a little worried about the baby rabbits. The mother is no where to be seen. I looked on Wikipedia and found out that parenting is not one of mother rabbit’s strong suits. I also found out that baby rabbits are referred to as “kittens”. But aren’t kittens called kittens?
