Something Simple

Today is Alexis and my wedding anniversary. I have the day off and we are going to have at least one meal at a classy restaurant and see two movies. It’s going to be a fun day.

Typically when I was growing up and would ask my parents to buy a new game for me their response was to point to the game collecting dust in the corner of my room and say, “But you haven’t finished playing that game.” However, now when a new game comes out that I want, I buy it. But lately this voice in my head says, “But you haven’t played Metroid Prime 2: Echoes in forever.” Hopefully, I’ll be able to play some of these neglected games this holiday.

For the past 2 months I’ve been playing this website puzzle called notpron. Each level of the puzzle is a webpage that has a picture, title, and maybe text/hint. To reach the next level you have to decipher the hints/code/riddle which lead you to change the URL in a specific way or leads you to find the username and password. Each level is different and they make you think in different ways. I have reached level 72 and I have enjoyed the majority of the levels. There are 4 levels I have found that are poorly designed. Level 71 required me to print a picture which consisted of shaded squares with red and blue dotted lines along certain sides and numbers in each square. I had to cut out the image and fold the paper until it formed a shape. This in itself was a challenge. It required patience, dexterity, and a lot of scotch tape. The result was a flimsy 3D shape made of paper that somehow held the solution. I was suppose to pick the numbers based on shading and arrangement of the numbers on the object. After trying everything I gave in and cheated. Sue me. Judge me. I don’t care. I looked at the solution and I still cannot see it. It was like reading a “Choose Your Own Adventure” book backwards by starting at a good ending and finding out it can’t be reached normally. I’m extremely frustrated with notpron and I?m taking a break from it until January.
